It’s been 7 years since Mr. Rogers passed away. Mental Floss put together a great article about everyones favorite neighbor, listing interesting facts and anecdotes about this almost unbelievably sweet man.
My personal favorite tidbit:
He Could Make a Subway Car full of Strangers Sing
Once while rushing to a New York meeting, there were no cabs available, so Rogers and one of his colleagues hopped on the subway. Esquire reported that the car was filled with people, and they assumed they wouldn’t be noticed. But when the crowd spotted Rogers, they all simultaneously burst into song, chanting “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” The result made Rogers smile wide.
Andre 3000 - Behold A Lady
You’ve got that thang and you know it
But yet you don’t, and that’s what’s so cool
Most people know Andre 3000 simply as “the ‘Hey Ya’ guy” and they’re missing out on some excellent material. This song sums up many of my feelings about the fairer sex.
So this one goes out to all the classic ladies out there. Please keep doin what you do. Whether you notice it or not, there’s guys out there that appreciate it.
Edwyn Collins - A Girl Like You
OMG OMG OMG OMG
I was so sad when the news came out that a stipulation of Conan’s seperation with NBC was he would not be able to put a show on the air until September. The news of a possible live show that tours the country (and possibly abroad) is not only brilliant, but it makes perfect sense. And the thought of Conan being able to put on a show that’s purely comedy without the shackles of celebrity interviews and appeasing corporate sponsors, a network and the censors is making me absolutely giddy. GIDDY.
The Beach Boys - Sloop John B.
Local Natives - Who Knows Who Cares
Great harmonies, energetic percussion, songs that invite you to sing along, promising bands and exciting new musical discoveries. These are a few of my favorite things.
Surfer Blood - Take It Easy
Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should Have Come Over
Some sexy tunes to round out Valentines Day.
Sam Cooke - Cupid
Frank Sinatra - My Funny Valentine
